Lisa's lovely natural solutions ...

I love my job and I love my clients.  Particularly when they present me with a load of beautiful pots, jars, flowers, an old wooden chair and lots of lovely natural products!  Throw in a lovely bit of sunshine, some puppies wandering around and what a perfect photography job!  One of the best things about this job is just how lovely the products are, so not only do I have a great time shooting them but I actually want to endorse them and their creator, the lovely Lisa

Lisa makes each one of her organic products and aren't they just beautiful?  Biodegradable, no animal testing, a natural and simple skin care that anyone can use.  As if the pretty pots and divine inky blue glass bottles weren't draw enough?!  I couldn't resist getting a few items myself and think that they are wonderful.  A natural product that isn't sticky, leaves you feeling soft and is delicately scented.  The Honey and Beeswax lip balm is divine!  It really does make your lips kissable (come on Colin Farrell, I'm ready!) and beautifully soft and glossy.

To find out more about LJ's Natural Solutions or order some for yourself (they also make wonderful presents too) just visit Lisa's website.  Look out for the new product photographs going up on the website too in the next week or so.

Impressionism | violating the rules

Breaking the rules! Having some fun and blurring the lines.  But look how the colours and light shine through.  Personal project #1 to keep the photographic magic alive!

A study in trunks ...

Tree trunks obviously!  I know what you were all thinking but please, this is a nature blog!

I've been thinking a lot lately about my style of photography and where I am going with it.  I have discovered that I love capturing images in an unobtrusive kind of way.  I like to look and think, to observe quietly and to show off all the details in a quiet, understated fashion.  Colours and shape are key, while pretty light is the cherry on top.

A trip to the seaside ...

Grab your suncream and beach towel, it's seaside weather!  Breathe in, fill your lungs with salt spray and the smell of fish and chips!  Ice cream, donkeys, sunshine, happy fun-filled days.

For the love of photography...

*for the love of photography*

Photography| painting with light
Photography| capturing fleeting moments forever

What defines a person?  What gives them their character and makes up the building blocks of the soul?  It isn't what job they do, how much money they earn or what car they drive.  For me it is about the passions, the loves that drive a person.  Doing things that you love, surely that is what it is about?  I love the beauty of nature, the kind of beauty found in a simple and raw form.  The colours and the textures.  Noticing tiny details and bringing them to the attention of the world.  Capturing them forever on film (albeit not quite so often these days), to look back on and remember.  I don't know how to describe it any other way than I have a need to take photographs.  I don't just want to, but it has become a way of life.  I love doing it, I am passionate about recording those fleeting moments in time.  That motivation is what enables you to see a good image, to know how to compose and to take a shot that works.

"You don't take a photograph, you make it"
~ Ansel Adams

The moment a photographer stops feeling like that is the moment the camera should be placed to one side.  Passion feeds creativity, creativity makes for wonderful, emotive art.  So be encouraged, don't just take shots for work, to improve your portfolio and to increase cash to pay the bills (obviously all very important issues!) but enjoy what you are doing!  Without the love of photography, a photograph loses its art status and just becomes a photograph.  The shine has gone, the depth is removed and really, what is the point?  Making images is about energy, capture the light!  Capture the colour!  Capture the excitement and buzz of the life all around!  Go out and shoot things just for the sake of shooting them.  It will revive you and keep your passion alive.

Rhian and Andrew | Married

It's a wet day up in North Wales and I fancy a sneaky preview of a beautifully sunny wedding that was shot mainly at Bangor Pier... beautiful people, beautiful light, beautiful memories.
